Fire half the managers, reduce top salaries: Everyone I've talked to who has worked at the CBC says there's twice as many managers as there needs to be so most of them do pretty much nothing all day. The top managers are way over paid. Fire half of them, that should free up money for new shows and more journalists.
makeing the CBC better: De-fund the CBC. Do it now!
De-fund the cbc.: We could go to the government and ask them to de-fund the cbc. Then it could be sold to a private company. The new private owners of the cbc could have huge expense accounts for George Stromboulopous if they choose. This may upset the shareholders though. The cbc could be so much better without ...

The man inside the boy: Self portrait, autumn 1990 I got a scanner recently. It’s amazing it took this long. As a former photographer, you’d think I’d have had one ages ago. I like to think I was letting my thousands of analog images – slides and negatives – age, like wine or whiskey. Or cheese. Speaking of cheese – for...

Playwriting workshop exercise: I participated in a playwriting workshop lead by Gil Garratt on Sunday morning. It’s the first “workshop” event I’ve been to where the participants have actually had to work—hard! But it was worth it just for the creativity exercises, feedback and discussion; there’s good reason Garratt was cho...

The Age of Persuasion – Now Available as a Podcast: The Age of Persuasion, a fascinating radio program about the black art of marketing, is finally available as a podcast. The show, which uses tons of TV and Radio clips from ad campaigns has been struggling to get the legal rights sorted out to podcast for, well, it seems like forever. The host...

A New CBC: In the interests of full disclosure, I am an ex-CBC employee (1992-1994). Victor Wong, over at The Phantom Observer, has, over the past few weeks, run a series of posts polling and asking for comment on the CBC and its future. For die-hard Friends of the CBC, of course, the answer is always and ...

This VoterMedia ballot is not currently funded. It is displayed as a demo for if and when there is funding. Without funding there may be few votes, which makes the rankings less meaningful. For a recently funded ballot, see Burnaby.
